My approach to individual psychotherapy and couples psychotherapy varies for each individual (or couple) so as to address his or her unique needs and concerns. However, I generally work from a psychodynamic or psychoanalytic framework. In general, this means that I value depth oriented work that addresses the root of the problem as opposed to simply teaching patients how to manage their symptoms. It is in the context of a safe, caring, and non-judgmental relationship that I collaboratively work with each person to identify and explore the thoughts, emotions, conflicts, and relational patterns underlying their emotional pain. As the process of therapy unfolds, the acquisition of new insight translates into increased transparency and authenticity with oneself and others, ultimately paving the road to healing, growth, and transformation.
